Engineering office specialized in the design of heat treatment furnaces for steel sheets, located in the Liège region (Belgium).


Desk-based work within a team. Willingness to travel abroad, both within Europe and internationally, for short-term assignments.

Control Process Engineer


SIE HANDELN

Main Responsibilities – Definition of the operation of the different sections of the furnace and the associated control system:

  • Analysis of P&ID diagrams;

  • Writing functional analysis: precise and detailed description of furnace operation according to control system interfaces (actuators & sensors, SCADA, mathematical model), definition of operating modes, sequences, control loops, and interlocks;

  • Definition of the control system architecture based on PLC/DCS and SCADA;

  • Specification of hardware and software requirements;

  • Definition of signal exchanges with other control systems interacting with the furnace;

  • Definition of alarms, HMI and trends;

  • Participation in the selection of the company that will program the control system;

  • Supervision of application programming;

  • Application testing;

  • Commissioning of the furnace or a section of the furnace, through both remote support from the office and on-site interventions;

  • Analysis and resolution of process-related problems.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Design and analysis of reports and data presented in tables and charts to identify furnace malfunctions;

  • Process explanation & client training;

  • Various calculations necessary for furnace control (combustion, thermal, fluids);

  • Performing PL calculations (Sistema) & safety-related documentation.

Potential Responsibilities:

  • Hardware configuration programming of a PLC following device/network/PLC redundancy principles;

  • Programming (PLC, SCADA & Drive) using various languages/methods;

  • Safety programming (PLC & Drive) based on provided specifications.

SIE WISSEN

  • Preferably Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or Master in Applied Sciences with electromechanical or electrical orientation. Alternatively, a Bachelor in Automation with several years of experience;

  • Affinity for programming;

  • Affinity for heat transfer;

  • Affinity for fluid mechanics;

  • Versatile and interested in industrial technology and applications, insightful and attentive to consistency in projects integrating multiple technical domains (instrumentation, electrical, automation, fluids), rigorous;

  • General knowledge of instrumentation (pressure switches, thermocouples, Pt100, pyrometers, valves, regulators, etc.) and electricity;

  • Autonomous and quick learner (curiosity…);

  • Good ability to describe in writing the detailed operation of a system to be controlled;

  • Good knowledge of tuning principles (control loops, filters, etc.);

  • General knowledge of common control systems, particularly Siemens TIA Portal and PCS7, and industrial and IT networks (Ethernet, Profinet, switches, etc.);

  • General knowledge of human safety principles and standards in industrial installations (machines);

  • Good knowledge of Excel including Macros, Access, and general IT tools including programming (network, communication bus…);

  • Good knowledge of English is essential; German or other languages are an asset;

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
