Working student (f/m/d) Product & Portfolio Management

We are seeking a motivated student with a strong blend of business acumen and engineering understanding to support Portfolio Management for the Service, Automation & Digital – Metallurgy department within SMS Group. The successful candidate will be comfortable translating technical concepts into commercial opportunities, producing data-driven insights, and working in cross-functional, multi-cultural teams to validate and develop growth ideas and service approaches. Your main tasks are:

• Support portfolio management activities for the Service, Automation & Digital – Metallurgy department.
• Derive operational templates and tools to streamline R&D and product/portfolio management workflows.
• Support business modelling, product and portfolio analyses.
• Generate data- and research-driven insights to inform decision-making.
• Cooperate effectively in cross-functional, multi-cultural teams.
• Identify and validate potential growth ideas and service approaches.

You are currently enrolled in a Master’s degree at a German University (Engineering and/or Business Administration). Beyond that you bring the following knowledge:

• Strong business understanding combined with technical/engineering interest or background.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical thinking and experience working with assumptions and model-driven analysis.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to present concise and clear findings.
• High attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
• Experience in collaborative, multicultural teams is an advantage.
• Fluent in English (verbal and written), favorably also in German.
