Introduction
The Application Engineer is responsible for supporting AI, software development and measurement-data processing activities. The role will deliver application and tool support for internal and external stakeholders, participate in interdisciplinary R&D projects, and enable measurement-driven solutions (e.g., IBA file processing) for flat-products business areas.
Scope & Function
• Support processing, preparation and analysis of measurement datasets (e.g., IBA files); apply mathematical methods for data validation and transformation.
• Design, develop and maintain software tools for design review, evaluation and
measurement-data workflows.
• Develop AI applications and automation tools (bots, pipelines, models) to support business needs.
• Evaluate processes for AI-readiness and feasibility of implementation.
• Support experiments and trials in test labs and operational plants; collect and analyses
experimental data.
• Track costs and control schedules for ongoing R&D and PMM projects; report project status and risks to stakeholders.
• Provide software, AI and measurement-analysis support to specialist departments (sales,
design, commissioning) in the field of flat products.
• Prepare and deliver studies, internal knowledge transfers and external training

Key Competencies required
• 3 - 5 Years in software development for measurement-data Development for workflows and numerical.
• B.E - Software, Natural Sciences, Mathematics or closely related courses.
• Very good experience in analyzing large datasets and data-mining techniques.
• Strong programming skills (preferably C / C++ / C# / Python).
• Practical experience with AI/ML techniques and applying them to industrial data.
• Familiarity with lab and plant data acquisition systems, IBA or equivalent measurement data formats is advantageous.
• Entrepreneurial thinking with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.
• Open-minded, assertive and committed; strong team player in international and cross-
company teams.
• Good communication skills to liaise with engineering, sales and commissioning teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel worldwide as required.
