Responsibilities
- Responsible for executing mechanical design activities for furnace technology products within CoE - Flat Products.
- Ensures technically robust, standard compliant, and manufacturable designs aligned with customer specifications and project requirements.
- Oversees the complete design lifecycle including understanding specifications, performing design calculations, guiding designers, reviewing engineering deliverables, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Product portfolio includes strip processing furnaces, annealing/galvanizing furnaces, coating drying ovens, aluminum heat treatment furnaces, batch annealing furnaces, heat treatment lines, and CSP/tunnel furnaces.
- Interpret customer technical specifications / technical contracts and prepare design notes for pre-design and concept development.
- Perform mechanical design calculations and develop basic engineering for equipment.
- Prepare and review layouts, GA drawings, and basic engineering documents.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of designs prepared by designers and junior engineers.
- Select bought out components based on technical, functional, and commercial considerations. Ensure compliance with SMS standards and relevant EN, ISO, ASME codes.
- Provide technical guidance to designers and junior engineers; ensure quality and consistency across deliverables.
- Review 2D/3D models for manufacturability, assembly feasibility, and installation requirements.
- Validate BoM/BoQ and ensure alignment with design intent and manufacturing processes.
- Drive standardization, design optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support sourcing through preparation of purchasing specifications, vendor offer reviews, and participation in technical/commercial negotiations.
- Collaborate with project management, procurement, manufacturing, and quality teams for seamless execution.
Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal departments for technical clarifications and design approvals. - Support proposal and estimation teams with design inputs when required.
- Plan and schedule engineering activities; ensure timely delivery of engineering documents.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with SMS document management guidelines.
KPIs include
Design accuracy, adherence to schedules, quality of reviews, standardization initiatives, issueresolution effectiveness, and SAP/BoM/document control accuracy.

Technical Skills Set
- Expertise in mechanical design, engineering drawings, GD&T, fits/tolerances, welding and machining symbols, and manufacturing/assembly processes.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and CREO with strong capability to review 2D/3D models for accuracy and manufacturability.
Strong understanding of EN, ISO, ASME, and other relevant standards. - Ability to validate BoM/BoQ and ensure alignment with design intent.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to perform design calculations and evaluate manufacturability.
- Familiarity with SAP and SMS documentation processes.
