Head of Spare Parts & Operations ME Flat and Steelmaking (SXMF1) (f/m/x)


Your tasks

In the field of spare parts and consumables business, the Head of spare parts sales and operations is functionally responsible for spare part business development for the equipment installed base under his/her responsibility (market analysis training on products, tools and process) as well as offer preparation, quality and lead time of deliveries and has direct impact on customer satisfaction. Through his/her actions, he / she will reinforce spare part business development. He / She leads spare parts operations team in Mönchengladbach.

  • Market analysis and segmentation
  • Training of sales network on:
    • Existing service / spare part portfolio
    • New business models
  • Is responsible for development of sales tools:
    • Service / Spare parts solutions
    • Sales process and supporting tools
  • Implement a pro-active visit program to customers together with his / her team and regions, if any, to present the product portfolio, to identify business opportunities and to maintain / improve customer relationship and customer loyalty
  • Provides inputs on new product/service ideas requested by the market or offered by the competition
  • Monitors competition and report on any relevant change            
  • Coordinates his activities with the following stakeholders: colleagues from SXM organization, CoE Metallurgy, Regions, and cooperate with local SMS group service setup
  • Provides training to colleagues from the service and sales organization of “where to play and how to win” for product portfolio he/she is in charge of.
  • Propose targets for sales and order entry, split by product lines and geographical area
  • Allocate targets to his/her organization and control proper execution
  • Supports management with inputs which may be required for reporting and planning activities
  • Identifies and develops high potentials
  • Leads and is responsible for the HR development, -hiring, - planning, - qualification and new staff introduction program in the department together with region’s organization heads
  • Prepare offers for spare parts and consumables:
    • Prepare detailed offers based on customers’ requests and inputs from sales team
    • Strive to improve existing processes and tools to reduce time to quote
    • Coordinate with sourcing team, supply chain and suppliers to provide best conditions (quality, lead time and costs)
    • Build and roll out pricing strategy for hos /her field of responsibility
  • Build and drive operational improvement plan:
    • Analyze existing strengths and weaknesses (team, organization, processes, tools, suppliers…)
    • Build action plan to improve our performance, on the following main axis:
      • Time to quote
      • Lead time
      • Quality
    • Actively drive the execution of the action plans including coordination with various stakeholders (SCM, Sales, IT, Suppliers)
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and coordinate answers and corrective actions in coordination with Regions

  • General technical & process know-how / expertise
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach
  • Ability to analyze market trends and develop effective sales strategies
  • Proven ability to generate leads, proactively engage with customers
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Effective at leading cross-functional teams (CoEs, Region)
